Vicki Crinis

Vicki is a Research Associate (Honorary Fellow) at the University of Wollongong in the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. Her research interests coalesce at the juncture of international law, industrial relations, geography, political economy, migrant labour, race and feminist studies. To date,  she has written a series of articles on migrant labour, trade unions, global commodity chains, sweatshops, CSR and human rights. A central concern and question has been the gap in the safety net of human and labour rights for migrant workers. Despite CSR and codes of conduct, migrant workers continue in precarious labour conditions with few if any labour rights (ILO). In Malaysia in recent times migrant workers face job loss and food insecurity and she is interested in researching the challenges migrant workers face in the New Normal.
