Meri Ahlberg

Meri is Research Manager at Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX), a UK-based research and policy organisation working to end trafficking for labour exploitation. She leads and manages FLEX’s policy-oriented research, with a focus on the impacts of immigration policy on risk of labour exploitation and the links between outsourcing/subcontracting and labour exploitation in domestic and international supply chains. Currently she is conducting feminist participatory action research with workers in the UK cleaning, hospitality and courier/delivery sectors, as well as studying the impacts of immigration status on workers’ access to employment rights and social protections in the context of Covid-19. Before joining FLEX, Meri worked as a gender and labour migration consultant at the International Labour Organization’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
